"Get your high heel guitar-style boots and some groovy clothes.
Get a hairpiece on your chest, and a ring through your nose.
Find a nice little man who says he's gonna make you a real big star.
Stars in your eyes, ants in your pants, think you should go far."

-Queen "Modern Times Rock'n'roll"

O.K. Here are some books that contain somewhat more practical advice, and some that are just an interesting read.
Go ahead!  Explode the myth!  Musicians really ARE literate! :-)

Music, Money, and Success: The Insider's Guide to the Music Industry.

by Jeffrey and Todd Brabec ****

OK, so the writing is a little dry.  These guys are lawyers, what do you expect?  Still, this book is just jam packed with useful information.  Messrs. Brabec and Brabec (identical twins, in case you're wondering) tell you virtually everything you need to know about the music business.  Are you an artist?  What can you expect from a standard recording contract, and what changes should you consider pushing for?  You say you're a song writer?  How do you make sure you don't get screwed out of your royalties?  Maybe you want to get involved behind the scenes? What other careers are available in the music industry, and how do you break into them?  All these questions and much more are answered in detail in this "must have" volume.

If you know of any books you think would be of interest to musicians, please write up a short review, along with your "squishy ball" rating,  and e-mail it to me.  I'll post it and give you credit for the discovery.
